Ah, Halloween. I will begin by saying it isn’t even my favorite holiday. (Gasp!) But over the years, I have thoroughly enjoyed a little friendly competition with the neighbors, setting up the best outdoor Halloween decorations. And don’t get me wrong—the kids love it, too! From spooky skeletons to the best LED decor, don’t sleep on these new Halloween ideas for 2024 that the whole family will enjoy.

Halloween thoughts
Flat out, I am not your haunted house girl. Instead, I aim for a combination of whimsy and fun with LED lights and spooky skeletons. If your child doesn’t know what to make of the spooky decorations, keep your outdoor Halloween decor to meet their needs. There are plenty of years to build on to your decorations.
Second, there were plenty of Halloweens in the early years when I was lucky to get the blowup plugged in and a pumpkin on the stoop if this is your year to take a back seat on decorating, that is more than okay!
Halloween Essentials
Before we get into decorating your lawn, let’s chat for a minute about the Halloween essentials to help keep kids safe. I would like to order them in early September when prices are not yet jacked up for Halloween.
Glow Sticks
Reflective Tape
Safety Light Stick
Toddler and Preschool Halloween
This October, scary Halloween decorations don’t have to take the lead. Again, some years call for all the frills and thrills of Halloween, and others call for a welcome mat tossed outside with a rotting pumpkin.
But if you are ready to decorate, inflatable Halloween decorations are a win. This blow-up spooky train was everything my kids could ask for in the early years. They LOVED it! Jack Skellington is another fun-loving idea that typically has an inflatable option.

Nothing says getting into the spirit of Halloween like an oversized yard decoration. Add some lights, and you are officially the tackiest yet most well-decorated house on the block. Winning!
Skeleton Arch
LED Spider Web
Caution Tape
Yard Accents
Slide over pumpkins. Toss in some LED lights to the little details, and you have an epic yard. It’s like a Halloween party on your front lawn for your neighbors to enjoy on their walks. My favorite new addition this year is the Solar eyeball lights. I bought two six-packs in green. These are the perfect Halloween decorations for 2024.

DIY Skeleton Campfire
Years ago, my MIL came into town with all the supplies in her trunk for a DIY skeleton campfire. (Yep, she’s great.) Since she is new to Pinterest, she didn’t know her source. I will credit Crafty Morning since her site has a similar DIY skeleton campfire. Slide over fog machines because this spooky setup is a hit.
Supplies not linked: We used a hay bale (sorry, I can’t get that on Amazon) for the seating.

Etsy Halloween Finds
I searched several locations for high-quality magnetic bats; the best reviews came from ETSY suppliers. Since I got Targeted for adorable sweatshirts, I need to include these in this roundup. Of course, I will need a few for school events, parties, and grocery shopping. And the monster eyes are perfection. It’s one of my favorite things in our yard.
