Wow. Magnetic Tile Sticker Puzzle is genius.
I wish I could tell you that this magnetic tile sticker puzzle came to me on a whim.
But it didn’t. In fact, this indoor game came from a scroll on the gram. When I saw this simple way to play with magnetic tiles on @unknitandtiedtogether it screamed Sunday Night Setup.
So here we are! I must share this simple activity that my three and five-year-old have a blast manipulating!

Magnetic tiles are very much our thing.
We’ve had the tiles for years, and I foresee many more years of play to come.
Magnetic tiles are open-ended, which means exactly what you may think. There is no official start or stop. The play is endless, and the tiles are played with differently every single time.
Open-ended play such as this allows the child to take the lead in their play. Play on the floor or vertically on a magnetic wall. The options are limitless!

What happens when combining magnetic tiles and stickers?
Magic. Pure puzzle magic.
In the past, we’ve played magnetic tiles bowling and color shape match. Yet adding these stickers to create a puzzle is like no other.
Behind the scenes, this simple indoor activity is packed with a powerful learning punch!
- Fine motor skills as fingers grasp each tile
- Classification as similar stickers are matched
- Conversation
- Shapes
- Number sense recognizing the three groups of three
- Creativity

First, I place nine magnetic tiles in three rows of three to create a square.
Next, I add stickers making sure some of the stickers show up on more than one tile.
Finally, slice between each row to cut the stickers in half. I also tried with the blade of a scissor, which crumpled the sticker. A knife works best.

My three-year-old put the puzzle back together and matched each sticker. As he matched the sticker, he would also share with me what the object is called.
The first time my toddler played, he made a complete square. This time, he moved the magnetic tiles around in a complete line before making three groups.
My five-year-old also played! He not only matched each sticker but also began to explain to me that three rows of three equal nine. He then shared how two groups of three equal six, and one group of three is three.
Be still my heart! The extensions that happen on thier own with Breakfast Invitations are where the magic happens.
Both boys continue to explore this puzzle by mix-matching some of the different objects and inventing new words for the new images. Creativity was at its max!
Set this up, and watch this easy indoor game unfold!
