Easter art paintings can be kept simple! How do I know that Easter art paintings for kids don’t need to be complicated? Because my three boys just finished painting the most colorful Easter eggs from recycled cardboard. That’s right. Recycled cardboard and some paints are all it took to start this simple Easter art project, and a quiet hum is going in the kitchen. It is one of my favorite Easter activities for kids.

My 2.5-year-old, almost five-year-old, and six-year-old all joined in for this Easter craft.

Supplies
Before grabbing your paint, head to the recycle bin and find your cardboard. We can make several Easter egg drawings from one box! Next, grab your black marker to draw the designs. (Remember, spring crafts for kids are not a Pinterest competition)

Paint Brushes for Kids
Every set of paint needs paintbrushes. This set will last a few years as you paint with watercolors or tempera paint.
Crayola Washable Paint
When we first began painting, we used this set. It makes a terrific starter set for those ready to paint but not quite all in.
Tempera Secondary Colors in a Tray
What makes these great is that they are faster to dry than liquid paint. I chose secondary colors, and they have other color palettes to choose from.
Setting up this Easter art painting for kids
The best part is that my toddler and preschooler can take the lead after quick prep. This simple Easter art project allows creativity to flourish from THEM, not ME.
So often, we search Pinterest for ideas only to find ones that the parent created.
- Find boxes.
- Cut the boxes into large squares.

What I noticed as my boys painted
Once my boys began painting Easter eggs, there was no stopping them! The other funny thing when kids paint is that the room gets hushed. Art influences a child’s development and is encouraged at all ages and stages of life.
