Let’s talk about board games with rules.
You know it can take many different forms when you think about play. This activity here is a game with rules.
Games with Rules teach children to wait for their turn, play fairly, and how to lose!
It sounds like a tall order.
Well, it is! Taking turns, playing fairly, and losing all come with practice and time. We are still in the practicing phase here, which is a great way to keep building momentum. It is just one of our favorite indoor games for kids.
This rainbow DIY board game is a great way to reinforce these life skills!

Why math games are important
Math games with rules are also essential to prepare for Kindergarten.
In fact, according to the Common Core for Kindergarten, children will be asked to follow agreed-upon rules for discussions (e.g., listening to others and taking turns speaking about the topics and texts under discussion).
We can help our children understand how to take turns and follow agreed-upon rules through games and conversations with this DIY board game. Plus, they are a whole lot of fun for kids of all ages!
