Color sorting teaches children:

Begin teaching your child colors by making conversation as you read, and pointing out different objects at home.
You can do this at any age!
Mastery will come when your toddler is ready and feels confident in the colors around him. For now, use conversation such as this in everyday interactions.

Set-Up Bear Caves Color Sort:
Tape down your white paper.
Use painter’s tape to secure the sides.
Draw a few color caves.
*note: We do not have orange bears, but I wanted to see what my boys would do. I tried to observe their problem-solving. My Kindergartener surprised me by suggesting he add a red and a yellow bear because together they make orange!
Place the bears to the left of the workspace.
Why work left to right? We read and write from left to right, and this will begin to help your children track their eyes in preparation.
