Need an easy toddler activity with supplies you already own? Me too!
Take a look around your kitchen, and chances are your toddler will be right by your side trying to play with what you find. There is just something about measuring cups and spatulas that scream, play with me! I am here for simple ideas for my three-year-old on repeat!
So here we are, diving into the drawers and creating one spectacular toddler activity using supplies we already have at home.

You could imagine my three-year-olds face when he saw this set up for him!
In his eyes, he had some of his favorite supplies just waiting to be touched and played with.
In my eyes my toddler is:
- learning about spatial reasoning
- problem-solving
- building upon prior knowledge
- learning new vocabulary
- using his environment for play
Toddler activities do not need to be complicated with set up. Simple is best!
This is a great way for my toddler to begin his day.

I set this up the night before and my toddler plays as I begin to make breakfast. This idea plants the seed for him to begin his day with play.

- washable markers
- kitchen supplies – avoid any with sharp edges
Supplies should be kept simple. You can find everything we use on a daily basis here on our supply list.
Setting up is just as simple as it looks.
I taped down the white paper and placed the kitchen supplies over the paper.
I traced each item on the paper and then slid the supplies to the left of the paper.
My toddler’s job was to match the space with the supply that fit. My job was to sip my tea and enjoy the casual conversation as he worked.
It is that easy, and my toddler was thrilled with his success!
After this activity, you must try painting with your toddler. Spoiler alert: it is also easier than you may think!
