Rainbow Leprechaun Trap

Make this rainbow Leprechaun trap to introduce sequential order and strengthen fine motor strength when grasping each pom pom.

Instructions

  • Let's get set up!
  • Tape down your white paper.
  • Do you have a little Leprechaun? I found this one at the Dollar Store. If so, add him or a drawing to your activity!
  • Find a container for all the pom poms so they don’t roll around off the table. Contained is best. (wink, wink)

  • Next, add a simple sequence chart to the right of the jar. Here, I drew simple dots to represent the pom poms. My preschooler will use this as a guide for sequencing how to fill the jar using the pom poms in the container.
  • Invite your preschooler to begin filling the jar with the pom poms in the order of the chart’s colors.

Notes

I call these activities Breakfast Invitations and set them up the night before. When my child wakes up, they have something fun to do and play as I make my hot tea. It is a brilliant way to connect in the morning before a busy day.
